The Basics

1Born in Twin Falls, ID.  Ben spent his childhood on the farm where he loved the open space and the close contact with the big trucks and tractors.  When his family moved to Orem Utah in 1989, it was a hard adjustment for him.  He wasn’t used to the confines of the city.  Shortly after the move his parents received a phone call from the neighbors asking if they knew their son was peeing in the backyard (working in the fields of Idaho is similar to camping, there isn’t a person in sight—“So who needs a toilet?”).  He eventually made the adjustment and found that the city provides many opportunities.  As a young teenager, he found various ways to make money: paper-route, lawn mowing, baking and selling bread, washing windows, selling potatoes from his uncle’s farm in Idaho, selling roses on Valentines Day, and various other adventures.  Imagine how glad the neighbors were when he got a real job and quit knocking on their door with his latest product.

Education Background Experience

Ben left high-school a year early to get a jump start in college.  By the time most students are finishing high school Ben was already deep into the study of automotive technology at UVSC.  He placed first in state and second in the nation at the VICA Automotive Skills Competition.  He received an associate of science degree with an emphasis in automotive technology.  Later, he started school at Brigham Young University where he is currently studying Economics and teaching Portuguese to the missionaries who will be going to Portugal, Cape Verde, or Mozambique.
