FamilyLearn Privacy PolicyFamilyLearn recognizes the personal and sensitive nature of the information submitted to the site and is committed to protecting your privacy and providing you with a secure and safe service. The personal information about individual members is not sold or otherwise shared with advertisers, sponsors, partners or other 3rd parties except in rare cases involving possible violations of our use policies or legal statutes. The specifics of our Privacy Policy are best described in the answers to the following questions:
Who will be able to view my personal information?FamilyLearn is secure. All your content at FamilyLearn (photos, books, journals, etc.) has three privacy settings (private, family and public). Your content that does not list this setting explicitly is set to "private" by default. The following describes who sees your content with each setting:Private - Great for your personal journal. Only those you invite will view private content. Please note the MemoryPress system allows you to permit those you invite to invite others to view your book. You agree to indemnify and hold FamilyLearn harmless for those you invite and what they do with the information. Family - Great for the family reunion photos. Content marked with the "family" privacy setting is viewed by all who identify the person the content is about as family. Indentification requires the individual's full name and the individual's grandfather's full name. For example, when you upload a photo to FamilyLearn and mark that is about John Doe (your Father), who's grandfather is Frank Doe. A cousin, Wendy, happens to upload a reunion photo with your Dad in it and mark that it is about John Doe. Wendy has also indicated in her personal account that Frank Doe is John Doe's grandfather. Provided you both used the "family" privacy setting, FamilyLearn will share the photo with both of you because you both claim John Doe as family. Public - Great for deceased ancestors' histories. Share your family history with everyone. Content marked "public" will be shared with anyone who has an Internet connection. Each user is responsible to protect his or her username and password. In addition, we limit access to Your Information to only those employees who we believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information to provide products or services to you or to do their jobs. The staff of FamilyLearn may have access to one's username in order to better serve our customers, but will never have access to any individual's password. < Back to Top > Does FamilyLearn ask for my personal information?Yes. FamilyLearn is based on natural family connections and in order for it to work properly you are required to submit your name and an email address. Other information including a family connection (so you can see stories of others and share stories with them too), your birthday or anniversary are not required, but remember that your personal information will only be seen by your family (see "Who will see my personal information?") and withholding some information may compromise the usefulness of the site for other family members.A member of FamilyLearn may invite other family members to join FamilyLearn by submitting those individuals' names and email addresses along with other optional personal information. It is expected that permission from living individuals be granted prior to submission of their information to FamilyLearn. < Back to Top > How will FamilyLearn use my personal information? The primary use of your personal information is to help you preserve your stories to share them with whoever you choose. FamilyLearn will also use your registration information to advise you of new family members and new family postings to the site, to let you know about new features, or to address customer service needs and requests.< Back to Top > Will FamilyLearn disclose any of my personal information? The personal, private information that is provided to FamilyLearn by individual members is not sold or otherwise shared with advertiers, sponsors, or any other unrelated third parties (except in rare cases involving possible violations of our use policies or legal statutes).< Back to Top > May I change or correct my personal information submitted to FamilyLearn?Yes.
